Constitution Day

We had fun celebrating Constitution Day. We ate yummy red, white, and blue cake. We read stories and wrote in our journals about our American flag. After studying about one of our United States symbols, we enjoyed making an American flag and practicing the Pledge of Allegiance.

The Kissing Hand

The first day of school is a special day and we always provide our class with a special treat to let them know how much we care.

~~Kissing Hand Poem~~

A piece of me I give to you,
This special heart because
"I love you."
The heart is you, the hand is me,
It shows that we are
A Family.

Reading Across Kindergarten with Dr. Seuss

During the month of March we studied about one of our favorite authors, Dr. Seuss. While reading his books, we looked for sight and rhyming words in them. We also studied word families. After reading his books we talked about where we like to read. Some of us read in the familiar places like in bed, on the couch, with our reading buddies or with mom...but there are some of us that like to read in the closet, in a tent, in a hideout or under the bed. Wherever you like to read...
"The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more that you learn, the more places you'll go."

We would like to introduce Miss Jessica Smith. She is a Dalton State College student that is majoring in Education. She will be helping out in our room on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are so excited to have her and she is doing an excellent job working with the students. Last week she taught a lesson on President's Day.
